Ovation Hair Products Reviewed

I am asked to review new products occasionally by clients. This is my latest review posted below. This is my email response verbatim:

Dear _____,

I just reviewed the ovationhair.com website and called their main number. I spoke with a woman named Carlee (Vice President of Sales) who gave me some additional info. She said that she was going to email me the ingredients for their Cell Therapy Cream, but I have still yet to receive it.

Here is the deal. There is only one product that they claim that has an impact on the hair cycle. That is the Cell Therapy Cream. They say that the amino acids in the cream help naturally extend the life of the growth phase. There is absolutely no mention on their website of how this happens and there is only one before and after picture of the President of the company. The woman that I spoke with says that they do not claim to treat pattern hair loss. It simply gives the appearance of thick fuller hair. I think that they are marketing more towards improving the quality of the existing hair and providing healthier environment for future growth.

To be honest, I am not impressed. The only bit of research I found was in regard to Panthenol (vitamin b5) and how it will extend to life of the anagen phase of the hair. This is true. That is why there is high levels of b5 in the both the PM and PMb topicals that both you and _____are using.

I will review the ingredients of Cell Therapy Cream when it arrives. I think that this product is designed for people who have damaged hair or have thinning due to nutritional inadequacies. In my opinion, this is not going to be an improvement to either of your treatment programs.

Sincerely,

William Gaunitz

UPDATE July 14th, 2009

This is an copy of an email sent to me through www.hairgrowthcenters.com from an Ovation Hair Product user sent July 13th, 2009.

User from: Lemon Grove, CA 91945

Subject: Ovation Hair therapy Products
I tried this product for 3 months with no results, when I called to get my money back guarantee, they stated I needed to return the bottles back to them and that I would only received money back for the last order I placed and not all the money. I happened to have the last 2 items I order which was the Hair thereapy treatment and the rinse.
I received a refund for only the last 2 products. The add does not state you should keep your bottles and return them if not satisfied. And they do not state that you will only received a refund for the last order and not all if you continue to use the product as they state for results, 3 months.
this company does not meet their advertised promises.

UPDATE Septemper 1, 2009: OVATION HAIR STUDY Begins.

Comments

Thank you so much for writting this e-mail. I am a sucker for things like this and I was so close to getting the whole system. I'm only 35 and my hair is thinning on top and it is affecting my self-esteem a bit. I'm just happy that I am 5'11" so not many people can see the top of my head.

Once again, thank you for posting your e-mail and letting people hear an opinion that isn't 100% for the product.

I on the other hand have thin hair due to damage from chemicals and family genes. Mostly due to genes. I have always had fine hair that never grew past my shoulders, and if it did, it looked very thin. My ponytails were so small I had to wrap a rubberband around it 4 or 5 times. Anyway, I have been using this product for about a month and a half. For me, I have seen a difference, not a huge one, but a difference in any case. I am going to continue until it is gone. I do see a difference in the manageability. I wish I could rave about it, but I am still in the process of deciding if I like or need it. Thank you for your posting. I will keep you updated on the progress if any.

Hello Rhonda,
Thank you for your post. That is good feedback. The product will most likely enhance the condition of your existing hair, but there is no credible evidence that it will help regrow hair. Please keep us updated on your progress. I look forward to it.

I heard endless ads about this product both on TV & Radio so I decided I had to give it a try. My hair has always been thin & fine and as I grow older it gets worse. I have been using the product for almost 3 months and have noticed no change in the growth, volume or texture of my hair. A few weeks ago Ovation e-mailed me a note asking for my opinion and I of course told them about my dissapointment, I've heard nothing back from them....Don't waste your money.

I have been using this product for a month, and it has not lived up to its promises. There has been no change in the volume, shine, growth, nor thickness of my hair. It is a complete scam.

To Oliver and those who feel like Ovation Hair Products let them down;
I specialize in the development and implementation of new hair loss treatments programs. Since Evolution Hair Centers does not carry a directly competing product, I have been hesitant to recommend something for those individuals who have come to this blog and been unhappy with Ovation. I began testing a new product from DS Laboratories that seems to living up to its promises after 5 weeks of review. We will begin offering this new product through our store beginning April 24th. I would like to offer this product for a trial review for those of you who are willing to give this product a shot. I would like to hear your feedback. I will posting our initial microscopic scalp analysis photographs in an upcoming blog article. If you are interested in participating in this Review Study, please email me your name and email address to staff@hairgrowthcenters.com Subject OVATION STUDY. Our corporate office will email you the promo code within 48 hours so that you can receive 50% off the product. I thank you in advance for your possible participation.

I HAVE USED THIS SYSTEM ONCE AND I MUST SAY, I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY HAIR IS MUCH SOFTER AND PLIABLE. IT BREAKS LESS AND THE COLOR IS BEAUTIFUL. I CAN'T WAIT TO WASH MY HAIR THIS WEEKEND. I ONLY WASH MY HAIR ONCE A WEEK SINCE I AM A BLACK WOMEN WITH HIGH MAINTENANCE HAIR. I DON'T HAVE A PERM SO THAT ADDS EVEN MORE DRAMA WHEN I WASH MY HAIR; IT QUICKLY BECOMES AN ORDEAL IF I DON'T USE THE RIGHT PRODUCTS. HOWEVER, THIS OVATION SYSTEM HAS ME VERY EXCITED AT THE RESULTS JUST AFTER ONE USE!!! IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY - PERIOD!

Many people have responded to my comment in regard to the upcoming DS Laboratories study/review. This post will be coming soon. If you are looking to immediately get started, you can purchase the DS Labs Revita Shampoo from our online store at http://stores.hairgrowthcenters.com/-strse-55/DS-Laboratories-Revita-Stimulating/Detail.bok

We have yet to begin the study due to high levels of vitamin A in the DS Labs DNC and RS topicals. Once we have developed a safe protocol, we will begin the study with those products. In the mean time, the Revita shampoo is safe to use alone. I look forward to assisting you all in the near future. Please join our RSS Feed at the top of this page for all of the latest updates.

Hi all, just my two cents worth, but I am a (somewhat) happy user of Nioxin products (System 4), and as I see the ingredient list for Ovation Cell therapy, I don't see it as having any advantage over the Nioxin line, which at least tries to target different hair types and conditions. Also, nearly every ingredient found in Ovation Cell therapy can be found in my System 4 line, which has even more amino acids, algaes, and B Complex vitamins, along with other ferments, extracts, etc. (if desired, I will post those ingredients to show you what I mean).

If anything were going to work, it would be this. However, Nioxin really isn't a hair growth product either, but if you are looking to create the best possible scalp environment for healthy hair, and to retain what hair you have, then you could give this a shot. Even with Nioxin products, though, I still need to supplement with other products, in order to stop DHT and (hopefully) stimulate new growth. I also use Nizoral every 3-4 days, and will also start using Revivogen to stop DHT in the scalp, and then either Rogaine or TriComin (a tri-amino acid copper peptide formula) to actually stimulate some new growth. At least some of these other products have established research behind them (see:www.hairlosstalk.com)

Peace out~

I have been using the Ovation hair system for almost 2 months and I have to say that I am more impressed with it than any other product I have tried. What I have noticed most is that I am able to go 2 sometimes 3 days without having to wash my hair. Usually my hair is greasy by the end of the day - so I need to wash it daily. Whatever is in this product moisturizes my hair without making it get greasy. It seems like it has given my scalp what it needs and so my body has quit producing so much oil. I have to say, my hair feels healthier than it ever has. I live in Colorado, a dry climate, and my hair has always been dry and brittle. Does the product make hair grow faster? I can't really say. But I have noticed much less breakage and shedding and I would think that would make my hair seem to grow faster over time. I don't know if this product is the miracle it claims, but as far as anything I have ever tried, I like it and plan to repurchase when I get close to running out.

I was just on this website to see the reviews that Ovation gives. My hair is not thinning or fallin; I just need it to grow faster. My hair grows extremely slow. Do you think it'll speed up?

I had cancer 2 years ago and lost most of my hair and now that it's growing back it is really hard to keep from breaking off. I ordered my Ovation about 3 weeks ago and I see a noticeable difference in my hair. My hair is much softer and more manageable. I am a black female so selecting the right hair products is extremely important. I would highly recommend this product to all the African American People out there with thinning and lifeless hair

i'm planning to buy the product, but i'm not sure if it will work. I have a very thin hair and it grows so slow. It also break easily. I tried a lot of products but none of them seem to work.

After contracting a body fungus over my entire body this summer I eventually had to shave my head, because it was dry and had dry leiosns all over my scalp and began coming out by the hands full. I am a black female and used to wear wigs just for fashion. Now I have no choice. I am trying to grow my hair back and don't know what else to try. I take Aphoge hair vitamins and use Frenchees Finally seeing a little progress). I have tried every home remedy and Dr Miracle. I would love to be a part of that study from DS Labs DNC. How do I get on board?

Hello Everyone,

Evolution Hair Centers is now offering a new product set that will deliver what Ovation is promising.

I have heard over the months about some disappointing results with Ovation. Although I think that the product has some value in volumizing existing hair, but it does not contain the ingredients to produce long term effective new visible hair growth.

Please see the following link to learn more about our new 360 Product System for Thinning Hair. We are currently offering a 50% discount for those blog visitors who would like to try it. Use the promo code: NEWOVATION until Sept 31st, 2009.

We look forward to your feedback!

Hello Frankie,

I believe that our products can help. Fungal and bacterial infections can cause serious hair loss. In some cases, that hair loss can be irreversible. As long you do not have a scarring infection of the scalp (i.e. scarring folliculitis), our products will help. The new GHS 360 Product System specifically targets bacteria, fungus, and other microbes to reduce inflammation at the hair follicle. I believe that it is worth a shot.

I have used this product and though the radio ads are a bit misleading, it does have some effect. While it doesn't actually make your hair grow, it does strengthen it, making it break less often therefore allowing it to grow healthier. It also does detangle and seems to make my hair much more manageable. The shampoo was worthless, I actually think it made the color look duller. The creme rinse is a nice detangler and makes your hair very soft, however for thr price, I don't know if it's worth it. Also, this product is basically the same thing as Megatek Coat and Hoof Rebuilder, which yes, is a cell rebuilder for horses but is safe for human use. Both products have the same nice coconut smell and I believe they are by the same company. The only thing is the Ovation is much more expensive at $55/bottle where as the Megatek is about $30 for a larger bottle.

i have a thinning hairline when it used to be full. maybe due to the killer chemical perms and dna. i read all the comments pros and cons and have decided to try ovation along with prenates. i will get back to you with the results good or bad.

After reading all the comments about this product, I am confused, don't know whether to try it or not. It's so expensive, I would like to know if it really works or not. The advertisements make it sound as id it works, but I am hearing too many negatives from the people who have purchased and used it. If this is just a hoax to make money, it needs to stop!

I have been using Ovation products (all 3 of them) for 6 weeks now. I liked it first few times (shine, volume), now...my hair is awful...very dry, hard to style, my ends are horible... and my psoriasis (scalp) got worst and not ''better'' like it was advertised. I want to return it..very, very disappointed..

I just ordered OVATION and received it today, this will be my first time using it. I don't have thinning hair, but it's overprocessed and seems to grow slow. I have tried Nioxin in the past but it only dried my hair out. I am going to give this a shot and see what happens....

I'm Africian American with over processed thinning hair. I have used this product for three months and no change in the length of thickness of my hair. The only postive comment I can make is that it smells good. I have given up on it and would not recommend it
Posted @ Thursday, December 10, 2009 11:46 AM by Danielle
I'm a hair stylist and I have three customers that uses ovation, one for about two months and the other for three weeks and I don't see any difference in their hair. I wouldn't spend that kind of money for that product.I was going to get me some but changed my mind.

I just saw my hairstylist and he said that my hair seemed thicker. I will see him in January and he wil tell me if my hair has grown at all. I only bought the Cell Therapy Conditioner. So I will get back to you in January.

I received my "Ovation Hair System" on Saturday morning I used it as soon as it was delivered, I was impressed with the first time using it, I could tell a big difference in styling my hair, the way it shined and so much body, I did'nt even have to use my curling iron. I was really happy when I woke up the next morning, my hair still looked good enough that I did'nt have to shampoo and spend an hour getting my hair together.... Today I used it for the 2nd time, although last night before going to bed I did what the directions said which was to apply the Cell Theropy on damp hair and leave it on over night... when I got up this morning my hair felt and looked great and then when I washed and did my hair it looked even better... my ends look smooth with a lot of body... I have to admit after I orderd my Ovation last week, and reading the posts of reviews on this site I was afraid that I was going to be unhappy with my purchase... But, I'm thrilled with it... plus I noticed that each bottle was totally filled to the opening of the cap... so you diffently get your monies worth... I can hardly wait to see how nice my hair will look 30 days from now... I believe that my hair will stop breaking at the ends so that now it will grow longer.... So far, I highly recommend this product if you have problem hair... in the mean time I will keep touch with an update in a few weeks.

This product was horrible. It did not do one thing is was supposed to. My hard earned money was a waste! do not buy it.One month and no change in my hair or its length at all.

I saw my 45 year old friend over the holidays and was shocked at how healthy, shiny, thick and longer her hair was since I saw her in October (8 weeks ago). I asked her what she had done to her otherwise drab and thin hair. She cited Ovation and raved about the product and even said her hairdresser notice a difference! I came to the website to check it. It may not work for everyone, but dang it's making a huge difference in my friends hair health!

Wow, I'm surprised at the very low repurchase reviews.I lost 23 lbs and my work stress caused hair loss, thinning , shedding. I have been using this product(shampoo, cell therapy, cream rinse) for only 2 weeks. I did not know about its working condition before and I had not even tried it before. The results are AMAZING, started off with fine hair and after 2 weeks, my hair stopped or slowed down shedding and growing faster and I'm losing less hair than before.I could feel that my hair is in very good condition and smooth and silky soft. I could manage my hair better and it was not frizzy at all. Yep! A little costly, but well worth every penny! I recommend this product for people of all ethnic background.

It's been at about 3 weeks now that I have been using the Ovation Treatment... and I'm very happy with the way my hair is looking and feeling when I touch it wet or dry... I have color treated hair, I wash and use a curling iron and flat iron everyday... before I used the Ovation my ends were dry and split especially my sides were always breaking in the shower my hair was falling out through my fingers... since I've been using the Ovation I notice a huge difference, my hair feels stronger and is not breaking or splitting at the ends, its shinny and holds the curl better, and when I wake up in the morning my hair looks good enough that I don't need to wash it if I don't want too... It surprizes me that so many of the post are negative, all I know is that I'm happy with it... I will report my progress in a few weeks...

So, I already ordered my ovation cell therapy pckage. All three of them.. Now reading this, im kind of scared but then excited. We'll see what it does to my hair.. My hair is also overprocessed, i get bleached high lights which dont help my hair at all, and wash and straighten my hair every morning! My hair stayed the same length for a very long time since the ends break of, I am excited to see what Ovation will do to my hair!

Ladies, I have been their my hair is thinning, thin and fine. I have tried just about everything and the only thing that does work is the Rogaine. Don't you think doctors would know about the treatments for hair loss. My option is to wear a wig which is not all that bad if you find something close to your style.
Posted @ Tuesday, January 12, 2010 7:27 PM by Elaine
I decided to try the Ovation Cell Therapy Products, and I must say I am happy with the results, my hair is more shiny and manageable, I have very curley hair, plus it is chemical treated, and I use the straightening iron everyday on it, my hair seems more thicker with a glow, not dull and lifeless. For me the Ovation Cell Therapy system seems to be working.

I recieved my OVATION just yesterday, and today was my first morning using it. I like it so far. My hair is very soft and feels more full just in ONE wash! I bought the 3 system wash and im actually impressed. Also, I LOVE the smell! And the smell stays on the whole day. My hair still smells really good and its close to the end of the day already, I never had this with any other shampoo. I will keep you updated

I haven't seen a mention of HairPrime. I am 60 post menopausal with fine hair. I was starting to lose my hair at a fast rate. An esthetician who had a client that got good results, I have been using for 10 months. I can see all the short hairs (about a inch or more) coming in and my hair is visibly healthier. It doesn't "grow" hair. Only lets the hair you had come back and stronger so doesn't fall out. I am losing very little hair now. Study done at Stanford University. Need to use for a year before going into maintenance mode. Like Ovation, 3 products. Shampoo, lotion, primer. Only use every other day. If hair is dry, do not need to wash at night before using lotion. They also have vitamins, but if you are healthy they say no need to buy. There are a couple of websites where you can buy for less than at HairPrime. They tell you if you don't start to notice less hair falling out within a month, that the product may not be working. They will give money back. 90% success rate. Thought I was going to look like my Mom where you can see her scalp in many places. I am totally happy.

I see there are many African American women posting, so I want to let people know that I am a white woman. So can't speak to how it would work for AFW. Don't know why it would make a difference but I have read that AFW seem to have different hair concerns.
Posted @ Sunday, January 17, 2010 11:34 AM by Susan
I have used this product for two months and my hairstylist said there is no difference in hair growth or thickness.. So I discontinued using this product. I guess it depends on your hair. Did not work for mine. Sorry Ovation.
Posted @ Monday, January 18, 2010 10:16 AM by T
Well I'm still hopeful, though I still have hair falling out. It's been at least 2mos of use for me. I like the ease but I'm afraid that it may not be working for me. I've tried the different topical solutions and found some to work but just hated the routine of a.m. and p.m. applications.
Posted @ Monday, January 18, 2010 10:35 PM by M
Ovation, doesn't promise to regrow dead hair. It promises to help with live hair follicles and hair you already have-read the fine print. By making your hair manageable and stronger, it creates less breakage, so your hair is longer. Also, as far as returns they are honest in saying you only get back your last purchase less shipping and handling. I truly can't understand the problem in that, because if it doesn't work the first time, why would you use it again? I am black, and I think this product is amazing for black people's hair!!! Black hair grows fine, it just breaks from all the chemicals we put in it. This product stops the breakage, adds shine, makes your hair manageable! I love love love this product...If the price is the kicker, buy Dr. Miracle Shampoo and conditioner, and just use the ovation cell therapy instead of all three products. Between those two products, my hair has completely been reborn!! The Keratin protein in the Ovation and the tea tree in the Dr. Miracle product line are amazing for my hair! Honestly, I splurge on both these brands since neither is really all that cheap (Dr, Miracle relaxers are 8-12 bucks where as others are 3-6)and think that any of products they offer are great...Those are the only products that touch my hair and while I am on a tight budget and this is one purchase worth the price tag!!

I saw Ovation ad in LA and decided to try if it would work. I have had hair loss problem almost entire of my life. So, I thought it might work. About a month after I started to use this product, my hair got really thick, at the same time, I shed like crazy. Once I stopped using the product, I lost almost one third of my hair. I think that people who actually have a hair loss( alopecia, I think) should never ever use this product. I am so depressed and regretful that I used this product.

Hi Tanickia,

I don't believe Ovation will help your hair "grow" more, I've been using Ovation for about 2 months, what I notice most is that my hair is in better, stronger condition which is causing me not to feel that I have to cut all the dead ends off, which is making my hair feel and look longer. Please read Ruths post; dated January 21,2010 -she explains this product "perfectly"!

Hi ladies, I am a hairstylist of 20 years. I have been reading the different opinions that everyone has on this product. However it is very unfortunate that its sooo many products to choose from until we really dont know which one the trust to work. And on top of that, everyone has different situations with their hair, it's just realistically impossible for one product to cure everyone's problem.

Now I have seen and dealt with a lot of thinning clients of various reasons. I have recommended to a few of my clients the Nioxon Follicle Booster,by using it as directed consistently, you will have results. I also recommend a product called Nouristress, this product is fantastic, from the shampoo to the hair vitamin's that they offer. Youwill not find this product in the stores, you can go to nouristress.com to more information on this product line, awesome. And I highly suggest a hair vitamin, no matter what.

I did however notice that the Ovations product has Keratin Protein in it. Our hair is made up from Keratin, so any product that has this in its ingredient is good, because we need to replace back in to our hair whatever we may have taken out, from whatever chemical given, and this goes for Caucasian, Afro American, or Latino. Keratin is a fibrous scleroprotein that occurs in the outer layer of the skin and in horny tissues such as hair, feathers, nails and hooves.

But as it goes with any product, it will take time to see results, but with the proper diet(we are what we eat), and the products that I mentioned, you will be successful. And if you do have Alopecia, please contact a dermatologist immediately. There isn't or at least I have not seen any hair product that will cure Alopecia.

Well ladies, I really hope that I have been of some help. Good luck to you all. I have posted my email if any one has any further questions.
